A Scone & A Cupcake

After getting quite a soaking at the London 2012 Women’s Cycling Road Race in Kingston, Holly and I ducked into a department store cafe to have a hot chocolate and dry off a bit before making the ride home ourselves.

My camera had gotten quite wet as well whilst shooting the cyclists go past in a sudden burst of torrential rain, so as we sat at the table with our warm beverages and cakes (conveniently right next to a window, my favourite spot for a good bit of bright, soft side-lighting) I got out my camera to make sure it was dry and safe, and of course I couldn’t resist taking some shots of the gorgeous looking cupcake I had in front of me.

After taking the above photo, I decided to play with some shots from my macro lens.

C’mon, I can get closer than that.

I love the red white and blue of the paper cupcake case. I’m not sure if that’s because of the Olympics or if they had a overstock from the Jubilee a couple of months ago.

After spending a bit of time admiring my cupcake, I decided I’d better eat it. But not before grabbing a quick shot of the scone that Holly was eating.
