Dave the Angry Bee

There I was, sitting at my desk writing a post, when a bee flew through the open window, swirled around me a bit, and then proceeded to show himself up a bit by failing to fly back out of the window. Like most insects, he wasn’t capable of grasping the concept of glass and seems to be getting a bit grumpy every time the window failed to get out of his way.

He did, however, stop on the window to regather before he had another go at flying his small, bee frame through double glazed glass. This gave me a small opportunity to slap on my macro lens and get a few shots of him.

I was cautious of getting too close, as the bee (who I named Dave because why not?) was flying around the window looking for an escape and I’m not a huge fan of creepy crawlies. I could, theoretically, have gotten a lot closer, but I preferred to keep a bit of distance and crop later.

I’m pretty sure it was a bee, I think wasps are more solid-looking, whereas this guy just looks a bit like moulded honey.

One of the things I like about where I live is the green. Much like the macro shots of a spider I took last year, when the local plant life forms part of a nicely defocussed background is makes for some nice colouring.

At least I got a moment to get a shot of his wonderful insect eyes.

After a while he figured out the window and made his way back into the world. As for the post I was working on at the time, well that will be along very shortly.
